A passion project · Backyard Ultra Podcast

Everything the show has taught us, in one map.

Minds of the Loop is an explorable atlas of every question ever asked across the Backyard Ultra Podcast — searchable by topic, guest and theme, each one a click from the clip.

Minds of the Loop
Why I built it

I learned so much from this podcast. I wanted a way to explore it all — and to share that with the community.

Years of interviews hold an incredible depth of knowledge on training, fuelling, sleep, pacing and the mental game. It lives inside hundreds of hours of video, which means the best of it is effectively unsearchable — you either remember which episode it was in, or you never find it again.

This is a tribute to the show: a map that makes that depth easy to wander through and rediscover. Nothing is rewritten or summarised away — every question keeps its link home, straight to the moment it was asked.

What's inside the map
142
episodes indexed end to end
5,284
interview questions, each linked to its clip
13
topic groups, from fuelling to the mental game
100%
of it links straight back to YouTube
What you get out of it

Four ways in, depending on what you came for.

Find the answer, not the episode
Ask in plain words and get the closest real moments from across every interview, with the guest and episode attached — one tap to watch.
See what the field agrees on
Ask a bigger question and it reads across the whole field of athletes, then writes one practical answer — citing who said what, every source linked back.
A way into 140+ episodes
New listeners get a door in rather than a back catalogue to work through: pick the theme you care about and start there.
Old gold, back in circulation
Long-time fans rediscover interviews from years ago — the map treats episode one as findable as the newest release.
How it works
13 theme hubs
The big subjects of the show sit at the centre of the map, each in its own colour.
A dot per question
All 5,284 questions are nodes, clustered into tighter topics around the hub they belong to.
Two lenses
Read the same data by theme, or grouped around the episode and guest it came from.
Always current
The map isn't a snapshot — it reads the real library, so as the show grows the atlas grows with it.
Stats from runners
When a guest of the show is a runner, their up-to-date BYU stats are displayed as a reference.
Credit where it's due
